Shelter cove monument won a purchase award and was place in the Benson Park in Loveland Colorado, consequently the show committee decided to have a model made which would be available among others to be shown and sold during the Sculpture in the Park show in August of every year.

This sculpture was also used for many years as the teacher of the year award given out each year to exceptional educators by the British Petroleum Oil Company in Anchorage, Alaska.
