Some of my favorite ski day views happen while on the chairlift, and in this piece I wanted to capture a magical sense of fading late afternoon light. I love the limited palette of the landscape with tiny pops of color from the chairlift riders. What drew me to this composition was the stark contrast between the shapes of the dark, receding chairlift set against the soft, backlit trees and snowy trails below.
