Lindsay Jane Ternes

Lindsay brings Corwin Galleries a new Series of Original Art this Winter Season, with her inspiration stemming from being "...an avid telemark skier, and because I have a true passion for the sport of skiing, I paint a studio series each winter to capture the beauty of our time spent swishing around the mountains. I love the contrast of bright white ski runs carved into dark woods, snowy mountaintop views, and the joy of bodies moving through fresh powder. These new pieces were painted especially for Corwin Galleries, and I hope they'll bring viewers the visual exhilaration of being in Aspen."

Artist Statement:

As a Boulder-based professional fine artist and plein air painter, you'll find me outside every day of the year. I firmly believe "Joy is made complete when it's shared," and I paint to express the delight I feel while playing in the mountains. My heart soars in sunshine, but being a plein air painter (painting an outdoor scene on location) means weathering all the elements to capture the most delightful and dramatic sights. Each oil painting holds an adventure and my awe for the incredible beauty I experienced. My hope is that translating the light and curves of these amazing places into a piece of art brings that same sense of inspiration and peace to the walls where they hang. I have so much gratitude to all who have supported me in the pursuit of my passion, and it means an incredible amount to know the work I make is enjoyed by my collectors for years to come.

 Bio:

Lindsay is an award-winning plein air painter based in Boulder, CO. After spending her first years of life in Billings and Bozeman, MT, her family moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where she enjoyed a childhood spent exploring outdoors. Lindsay's passion for art was apparent from a young age, and she double majored in Studio Art and Marketing at the University of Denver to equip herself for a future in fine art. While attending DU, Lindsay focused on figure painting, later falling even more madly in love with painting in nature during her study abroad program at The Marchutz School of Fine Arts in Aix-en-Provence. Her time in Southern France greatly influences her scene selection and light interpretation today.

When Lindsay's not braving the elements with a brush in-hand, she's planning ski trips and backpacking adventures with her husband and two young daughters, trail running, and petting all the dogs she meets. She firmly believes "Joy is made complete when it's shared," and is driven to express the delight she feels while playing in the mountains. When Lindsay isn't painting around Boulder, the Indian Peaks Wilderness, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Summit County, you'll find her in Glacier National Park each summer. Her work can be found at Spirits in the Wind Gallery in Golden, CO, FoR Fine Art in Whitefish and Bigfork, MT, and Horizon Fine Art Gallery in Jackson Hole, WY.
